Recently, the IEC Technical Branch of the International Electrotechnical Commission TC 77/SC77A-EMC-low frequency phenomenon released the 5th edition of the harmonic current emission standard IEC 61000-3-2:2018, the new standard release date is 2018-01-26, replacing the existing 4th edition IEC 61000-3-2:2014 "Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)-Part". 3-2– Limits-Limits for harmonic current emissions (equipment input current ≤16 A per phase)", the latest version of the European Union EN 61000-3-2:2018 is in progress, and the announcement (DOA) date is expected to be 2018-08-02, instead of revoking the previous version, the date is 2018-11-02.

The changes in the new version of the standard are mainly reflected in the large differences in the requirements for lighting equipment. Therefore, manufacturers related to lighting products need to pay attention to the latest changes in the standard. The standard is suitable for electrical and electronic equipment with an input current of not more than 16A per phase connected to a public voltage distribution system, which is consistent with IEC 61000-3-2:2014.In comparison, the main technical changes in the lighting equipment part are as follows:

IEC 61000-3-2 2018 harmonic current test standard

◆Update the emission limit of lighting equipment with rated power ≤25W to take into account the new lighting equipment;

◆Increase the threshold value of 5W, and now test 5W-25W lighting equipment; there is no emission limit requirement for less than 5W, but new standards may be formulated in the future. The old standard is to directly define that ≤25W must be measured.

◆In order to improve the measurement accuracy, the frequency of the operating current with a frequency greater than 9kHz should not affect the calculation of the harmonic current. IEC61000 can be used.-4-7 5 .3 The required filter filters out components above 9kHz, so the measuring equipment should be equipped with an anti-superposition low-pass filter, and its frequency should be higher than the measurement range-3dB, The attenuation effect in the stopband should exceed 50dB. If the order is greater than 15 and the uncertainty of harmonic current measurement with a rated current greater than 5A is to be minimized, the measuring instrument needs to be equipped with an external shunt resistor and a current sensor to obtain a current of the same size as the rated current of the device under test.

◆Modification of the requirements for dimmers used in non-incandescent lamps;

◆Increase the test conditions of the digital load terminal (DLT) transmission control device;

◆Cancel the use of reference lamps and reference ballasts for lighting equipment testing;

◆Simplify and clarify the terms of use of lighting equipment;

◆Classify professional lamps and lanterns for stage lighting and studio use as Category A;

◆Clarify the classification of emergency lighting equipment;

◆Description of the lighting equipment containing an active input power ≤2W control module;

◆In order to be consistent with IEC 61000-3-12, the range of IEC 61000-3-2 is changed from equipment with input current ≤16A to equipment with rated input current ≤16A.

In the new version of the standard, new types of lighting equipment with a rated power of 5W≤P≤25W (such as LED control devices and lamps, etc.) need to be tested. The product categories involved are very wide. For example, some low-power LED lighting products, including: LED table lamps, LED bulbs, LED tubes, etc. Need to be tested.

Therefore, the harmonic measuring equipment previously purchased no longer meets the requirements of IEC 61000-3-2-2018, and the latest harmonic measuring equipment provided by Shenzhen EUTTEST Technology Co., Ltd. can meet the above new requirements.
