Product Description:
The HFRA 5149-60B is a schwarzbeck 20 W magnetic field transmitter loop antenna, one of the EMC transmitter antennas distributed by EUTTEST, covering the frequency range of 9 kHz to 30 MHz in accordance with the requirements of the CISPR 16-1-4 standard, which can be used with up to 100 W of input power for short periods of time or 30 W for continuous use. The magnetic loop antenna can use up to 100 W input power for a short period of time, or up to 30 W continuously, and requires an external 50 Ω power termination with appropriate power dissipation capability. the HFRA 5149-60 B comes as standard with a 50 Ω/20 W coaxial load termination, which is more than adequate for the maximum output power of the laboratory signal generator.
In the VLF-HF frequency range from 9 kHz to 30 MHz, the measurement of magnetic field strength is a requirement of most EMC standards, but is usually expressed in units of electric field strength called “virtual electric field level” (dBµV/m). In distortion-free far-fields, the units of electric/magnetic field are related by a free-space characteristic impedance of 120πΩ = 377 Ω. However, the actual EMC/EMI measurements are performed in the near-field region (D < 0.1 λ). For this, well-defined magnetic field sources are required. For immunity testing, strong H-fields may be required, but general testing and measurements in open fields, shielded rooms, and absorbing material rooms also require well-defined sources of strong H-fields. The magnetic field in the near-field region decays inversely three times with distance (about 18 dB for distance doubling). Even at a distance of 1 meter at 30 MHz, the transition from pure near-field to far-field begins to occur, with the attenuation exponent gradually decreasing from 3 to 1 in the distortion-free far-field.

“Reminder: swipe tables left and right”<4:1 (0.009 - 30 MHz)
Measurement calibration results:
When using the HFRA5149-60B ring antenna to transmit a magnetic field you should ensure that the product under test is at the center of the ring as shown in the figure below, the further the object under test is from the center of the ring, the greater the attenuation.

Relative magnetic field strength decay results at different locations from the coil center point
In addition, the higher the input power, the higher the magnetic field strength that can be obtained by the EMC lab, and the greater the interference that the object under test needs to withstand.
