Product Description:
The HI-1501 Microwave Oven Radiation Tester manufactured by ETS-Lindgren is a rugged, compact and portable instrument that is represented by Shenzhen EUTTEST for sales and quotation services. The instrument has been accepted by the U.S. Government's Center for Devices and Radiological Health (FDA/CDRH) for power density compliance testing of microwave ovens, and has been used by all the major manufacturers of microwave ovens for both in-use During and after repair microwave oven testing, there is virtually no chance of failure due to overpowering electric fields or physical damage.
Microwave leakage (EMF) is detected by an array of eight hot carrier diodes inside the plastic probe tip of this detector, an antenna array with the unique capability of accumulating arbitrarily polarized microwave electric fields in a plane perpendicular to the probe axis. The antenna flaps (effective measurement area) are also very wide, making the instrument easy to use when measuring leakage around the oven door, and the spacing cone is designed to maintain a 5 cm distance from the probe tip to the center of the array.
Complies with FDA specifications:
Each detection probe and instrumentation amplifier of the HI 1501 is calibrated as a single unit and is available in all three ranges: 2, 10, and 100 mW/cm², which measure milliwatts (mW) of radiated power passing over an area of one square centimeter. However, only the 2 and 10 mW/cm² ranges are considered compliant for purposes of meeting the DHHs/CDRH standard for microwave detection instruments in CFR 1030.10.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration/Center for Medical Devices and Radiological Health (FDA/CDRH) has established the following requirements for microwave oven leaks:
The power density (leakage) emitted by a microwave oven shall not exceed one milliwatt per square centimeter (1 mW/cm²) when measured before purchase by the purchaser, and five milliwatts per square centimeter (5 mW/cm²) after purchase.
Leakage values for microwave ovens in current use are typically in the range of 0.1 to 0.4 mW/cm², and are usually less than 0.6 mW/cm² when received from the manufacturer.
Therefore, the measurement of microwave oven power density using HI-1501 fully meets the specification requirements.

Instructions for use:

Measured with ETS-LINDGREN HI-1501 on the surface of a microwave oven.
- Open the oven and take a leak measurement. Hold the red handle of the probe with one hand and the meter with the other.
- Place the top of the probe against the surface of the oven, making sure the probe handle is perpendicular to the surface. Keep the meter away from the oven during testing to minimize RF interference directly from the oven to the meter enclosure.
- Keep the top of the probe in contact with the oven and the probe handle straight.
- Areas where leaks can occur include around door seals, around windows, and ventilation shutters or vents.
- If the pointer exceeds the end of the scale (2 mW/cm²), set the selector switch to the 10 mW scale. Turn off the oven, re-zero the meter and repeat the measurement.
- After checking the edge of the door, around the window and its lateral area, return to the location where the highest reading was previously taken.
- Place the probe in this position for at least five seconds and observe the highest indication of the pointer. This reading is the maximum leakage from the oven.
- Check the zero point after each measurement. If zero drift is detected, re-zero and repeat the measurement.
- Set the selector switch to the OFF position when the meter is not in use after measurement.
