Development history:
The conical antenna BBA 9106 from Schwarzbeck is one of the first and worldwide most popular biconical antenna designs with the Barron VHA 9103 B. Over the last few years there has been an increasing demand from the EMC EMC industry to extend the antenna test frequency range, which has resulted in the need for biconical antenna designs to reach frequencies of 20 MHz and 18 GHz and above. Schwarzbeck has further increased the test frequency of existing biconical antennas up to 18 GHz with the new design of the 4:1 Barron, and provides a typical gain increase of about 6 dB in the lower frequency range, but of course we offer a wide range of frequency ranges and gains in our product line, so check the catalog at the back to select the biconical antenna model you need.
Schwarzebck Biconical Antenna Product Features:
The Schwarzbeck biconical antenna has the characteristics of a dipole antenna (e.g., circular directional pattern in the H-plane, "8″ shape in the E-plane, fixed phase center, comparable gain).
In addition, all Schwarzbeck biconical antennas are designed with a special clamping fixture that allows the tester to mount and dismount the biconical element in a matter of seconds, thus providing perfect contact repeatability. A small wrench made of insulating material is supplied with the balun, which is strapped to the head of the balun so that the biconical antenna can be removed for use at will.
Typical test application of a biconical antenna:
Traditionally used half-wave dipole antennas can greatly reduce measurement time because there is no need to tune the antenna elements to half-wavelength, an important requirement for scanning broadband measurements. In contrast to a typical dipole application where several discrete frequencies are measured, the Schwarzebck biconical antenna allows the RBW and scan time to be varied to achieve the capability of continuously scanning the full range of test frequency points.

The Schwarzbeck biconical antenna consists of two parts: the antenna balun and the conical antenna oscillator. The following table lists the different models of baluns and antenna oscillators:
